The technological maximum limit of currently achievable capacities for Ni-MH batteries is about 1100 mAh for R03/AAA ('small batteries') and about 2700 mAh for R6/AA ('regular batteries') - although even these capacities are practically unheard of due to the issue of the lifespan of such batteries.

However, not everyone is aware of the maximum capacities that Ni-MH, Li-ion, etc. batteries can achieve. Some manufacturers and sellers exploit this ignorance, resulting in the market still encountering batteries with significantly inflated capacity ratings, which is, of course, a reprehensible practice.
