Another test of suspiciously cheap Eneloops purchased on a well-known shopping platform.
Just like last year, we decided to test suspicious batteries described as Eneloop Pro, offered through the largest shopping platform in Poland. The price – really "bargain" – over 30% lower compared to current prices from official distribution – what could go wrong ;) ?

Unfortunately, this time we were not positively surprised either, and apart from the different production date (10-2021), the newly purchased batteries are no different from last year's counterfeits, and are even worse.
You will find photos of the new samples below.
The main discrepancies are marked in red:
- batteries are randomly placed on the blister, not always turned with the logo facing forward,
- for R03/AAA cells, the declared minimum capacity is 950 mAh,
- for R03/AAA cells, the indicated battery size is HRO3, series BK-4HCCA,
- poorly reproduced, faded graphic elements - e.g. visible moire on the Earth symbol on the front of the blister,
- no visible production date on the back,
- language errors and typos - lack of Polish diacritics.
Additionally, we would like to point out two more differences that were not previously listed:
- different appearance of the eneloop logo - a different letter “e”,
- graphic error in the hammer icon on the reverse side.
On counterfeit packaging, the Eneloop logo is incorrectly written - pay attention to the small letter “e” in the logo - it is finished completely differently.

Tests of new counterfeits.
To check the actual capacity, we performed 5 full charge and discharge cycles. The capacity tests showed even worse results than last year.
AA size batteries do not have the declared 2450 mAh, but only about 1900 mAh at most. Similarly, batteries described as 950 mAh actually offer “only” about 650 mAh.
The obtained results compared to original batteries are presented in the charts below.

Much lower capacities are not the biggest problem of these batteries - using these counterfeits we lose the greatest advantage of Eneloop batteries - low self-discharge at high (for Ni-MH batteries) voltage. As our previous test showed, after 13 months of storage, the counterfeits are characterized by very large variances, low operating voltage, and relatively high self-discharge effect.
Unfortunately, despite numerous interventions with the administrators of the shopping platform, after a year it is still easy to purchase counterfeits - and there is no shortage of eager buyers - as shown in the screenshot below.

Kupiłem ostatnio u Państwa Eneloop AA i z 8 szt. tylko jeden trzyma minimalną pojemność deklarowaną przez producenta 1900 mAh. 4 szt. nie dobijają nawet do 1800 mAh. Tak, mówię o rozładowaniu prądem 200 mA. Te podejrzanie tanie nie były, a może komuś się do mojej przesyłki outlet wrzucił.

Eneloopy nawet kilkuletnie, jeżeli nie były wcześniej używane nie powinny mieć żadnych problemów z osiągnięciem minimalnych pojemności.
Proszę o podanie informacji ile cykli ładowania i rozładowania było wykonane przed pomiarem oraz co ważniejsze w jakiej dokładnie ładowarce i jakim prądem ładowania były naładowane przed pomiarem pojemności.
W wielu dostępnych na rynku ładowarkach, w konkretnych scenariuszach, Eneloopy potrafią być regularnie niedoładowywane.4011
