The NAO RL headlamp automatically adjusts the light intensity, providing maximum user comfort and extending the lighting time.
The REACTIVE LIGHTING technology uses a sensor that continuously measures the amount of returning light and adjusts the shape, range, and power of the light beam within a fraction of a second according to current needs:
- low-intensity lighting for reading, e.g., maps
- near and medium-range lighting for movement
- long-range lighting
There is also a constant power lighting mode and a rear red signal light.
Near-range lighting
When you look at an object up close, e.g., reading a map, tying a knot, or setting up a tent, the beam is very wide and has low power to prevent glare. The lighting automatically changes depending on the distance from the object.
Lighting for movement
When you look ahead, e.g., while walking or running, the beam becomes wide and has medium power - sufficient to identify obstacles in the way.
Long-range lighting
When you lift your head to look at an object far away, the amount of light significantly increases, and the beam changes shape to focused.
Using the Nao RL, the user has access to convenient, self-adjusting lighting and much greater freedom of hands than with standard solutions. The Reactive Lighting mode, in addition to automatically adjusting lighting, extends the flashlight's runtime thanks to optimized battery consumption.

- REACTIVE LIGHTING mode level 1 - maximum power
- CONSTANT LIGHTING mode level 2 - low power

The Petzl Nao RL flashlight uses a high-performance lithium-ion battery that performs excellently even in low temperatures - the manufacturer claims that the flashlight can be used even at -30°C. An additional advantage is the 5-level LED battery charge indicator located on the housing. Charging the battery has been simplified by using a USB plug - just access to a computer or any charger equipped with a USB socket to charge the battery. The manufacturer also provides a USB extension for more convenient charging of the flashlight.
Thanks to the use of high-quality materials, the flashlight is very lightweight despite its size - 145g with the battery. Instead of an elastic head strap, Petzl has introduced a new type of headband: Zephyr. The new headband does not press on the head and is much easier to adjust than the classic solution. The flashlight switch is easy to find in the dark and very convenient to operate. Switching between adaptive and constant mode is intuitive. The switch can also be locked for transport.
